Amy & Darrian - Real Wedding

Autumn weddings might just be my new favourite thing in life. This beautiful wedding of Amy & Darrian’s will definitely make you consider Autumn as an option for your wedding day.

You know when you choose an autumn wedding that you can’t guarantee the weather so you likely have planned for an indoor wedding and if the weather turns out to be ok, then you have an added bonus of being able to use any outside spaces.

That low afternoon lighting is just a perfect time for photos, giving your photographs a natural filter. Nobody’s squinting because it’s too sunny and your also not boiling in your heavy wedding dress and suit layers.

Depending on how you time it there’s rich colours and abundant seasonal offerings for décor choices, all around you. When you tie this in with twinkling candlelights and good food come the early evening it’s all just simply magical.

Amy & Darrian had certainly planned all of this when we met for our consulation. They wanted Burgandy and red tones along with dusky pinks and gold highlights for the colour scheme of the florals along with a mix of dark green shades of foliage with a sprinkling of pumpkin and gourds as a nod to an October wedding. Deciding to make it feel natural, striped green and white gourds were chosen rather than the typical orange pumpkins you get in for Halloween.

They knew they wanted to make a feature of the back wall of the Farm and although their design and ideas changed a few times they settled on using some simple white drapes with greenery attached to it. This served the backdrop for both the ceremony and the top table.

For the Ceremony table I made a huge garland that cascaded over the sides of the tables and trailed onto the floor. When it came to the reception and the ceremony table extended into the top table garland then fitted across the whole top table as table décor. Both the garland and the drapes framed the top table perfectly making it a beautiful place for photos both during the ceremony and the wedding breakfast and is a great example of how to re-use your wedding florals well and how to style areas where you know you will be spending the most time.

For the tables Amy & Darrian chose to have lanterns with greenery and gourds placed on the tables. With mini sprigs of eucalyptus on the napkins for added décor and scent.

Greenery and florals were used to adorn the stunning cake made by cakes by Mrs F and entrance areas, welcome signs and photo booths for those final touches.
